Little Smarties is Terenure’s leading privately-run Montessori Pre-school for boys and girls aged 2 years and 6 months to 5 years and provides a loving and caring environment which fosters individual growth for your child.

We have been providing quality child care since 2008 in a unique home-to-home environment. This allows children to develop and grow confidently on a one-to-one basis.  Our service provides Montessori, ECCE, Afterschool and Breakfast Club Sessions.

Since 2023, we have opened our gates to a new facility, LS Academy, located at
55 Terenure Road North in the heart of Terenure Village. At LS Academy we provide a safe, professional childcare service 12 months of the year for school aged children only. We also offer optional classes for Montessori Pre School only with “Chime in & Play”

Our services offer:

  • Practical Life – everyday activities your child learns in a purposeful way eg dressing, pouring etc.
  • Literacy – a basic fun introduction to letters, reading and language.
  • Sensorial – your child learns to concentrate on all of their senses, defining and identifying each one.

Our Educational Service Plan Include:

  • Supervised Study with qualified teachers (BA in Early Childhood Education).
  • Walking School Collections from St.Josephs, Presentation Primary, Zion and Rathgar National schools.
  • Delicious hot meals Included of the highest nutritional and food safety standards from Early Days Foods
  • Engage in activities such as tennis, mini rugby, sports and PE with our own professional Sports Coach.
  • Yoga, meditation and mindfulness
  • Optional ballet.
  • Lego Club and Chess Club.
  • Chill and unwind for free play, pool table and relaxation area.
  • Homely atmosphere.
  • 1:30pm to 6:00pm
  • Early Bird Club – school drop off.  Open from 7:45am.

Our Organization

I am Sarah Shields the Principal/Owner of Little Smarties Montessori.   I graduated from the London Montessori Centre in 1990. In the following years I  worked as a full time Mum to my own beautiful children Andrew, Katie, Stewart and Patrick. In 2008 I then opened Little Smarties from my home.    In 2014 I relocated Little Smarties to the War Memorial Hall in Terenure.
